Telemark is just a two-hour drive away from Oslo. The region is known for its beautiful forests and lakes and makes for a popular location for Norwegians’ beloved cabins. Here you can find Gaustatoppen, rising 1,883 m above sea level, providing a stunning view from the top: it’s said that one can see an area of approximately one sixth of Norway’s mainland.

The plan was slightly different but a set of coincidences lead us to a night spent at one of the most charming campings I’ve seen in this country (and the competition is strong). It’s situated at one of the deepest lakes in Europe, Tinnsjø, at this time of a year – completely frozen.
