Cottbus (Brandenburg, Germany)

Cottbus is a university city in Brandenburg, Germany with over 100.000 inhabitants. Located at the Spree river, it was a perfect place to spend the last days of summer 2012. Cottbus has a number of huge parks with probably the most famous one, Branitz Park, created by Prince Hermann von Pückler-Muskau after 1845, featuring two pyramids (one of which serves as his mauseoleum). If you’re in the area, don’t miss the chance to go to Spreewald, designated a biosphere reserve by UNESCO in 1991, and try Spreewald gherkins with garlic or chili!
